Welcome to Sunrise Learning Studio! I am a certified Barton Reading and Spelling tutor dedicated to helping children grow into confident, capable readers. I tutor students with and without dyslexia, providing individualized, one-on-one lessons or small group lessons designed to meet each learner exactly where they are and help them move forward with success.
My approach blends evidence-based, multi-sensory reading instruction with patience, encouragement, and a deep understanding of how children learn best. I am certified in the Barton Reading and Spelling System and trained in Slingerland screening, allowing me to identify specific areas of difficulty and create targeted plans that build strong reading foundations.
Beyond structured instruction, I believe in creating an atmosphere where children feel safe to take risks, make mistakes, and celebrate progress. I often incorporate games and playful activities to make learning engaging and fun, helping students stay motivated while they develop essential skills.
As both an educator and a parent, I know the joy of seeing a child's confidence bloom when the pieces start to click. My mission is to make that moment happen for every student I work with and to empower them with tools that will serve them for a lifetime.
My Qualifications
Certified Barton Tutor
Specialized training in Orton-Gillingham-based, multi-sensory, direct, explicit, structured and sequential literacy instruction.
Slingerland Trained
Trained in Slingerland Screening Tests that identify students learning patterns, areas of strength and weakness, and compare visual, auditory, and motor-kinesthetic abilities.
Parent & Educator
Personal experience as a parent of a struggling reader combined with professional training creates a unique, empathetic perspective.
